01
Who we are
Podorbit is an independently operated podcast discovery and research service. In this policy, “Podorbit,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of podorbit.app.
Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@podorbit.app.
02
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the service:
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your Firebase user ID and may receive your name, email address, and profile image.
- Saved activity. We store the episodes, guests, and companies you add to your favorites. Playlists stay on each device and are not uploaded. When you are signed in, we store the most recently played episode, playback position, device label, and timestamp so another device can offer to continue it.
- Technical information. Our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser or device information, request logs, and timestamps to deliver the service and prevent abuse.
- Sign-in diagnostics. Google Sign-In may process a phone number, coarse location, device identifiers, and limited usage or diagnostic information for sign-in, security, and SDK analytics. Podorbit does not use this information for advertising or cross-service tracking.
- Communications. We receive the information you include when contacting support.
03
How we use information
- Provide login, favorites, cross-device playback handoff, and customer support.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot the service.
- Understand service reliability and improve Podorbit's features.
- Send essential account and service messages.
- Comply with legal and dispute-resolution obligations.
Where applicable, we rely on performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Podorbit, compliance with law, or your consent.
04
Cookies and authentication
Podorbit uses a strictly necessary, secure session cookie after you sign in. It keeps you authenticated for up to five days and is not used for advertising. Firebase, Google, and Apple may also process device or authentication information as part of sign-in and account security. The mobile apps store authentication state securely on your device.
Podorbit does not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics. Sign-in providers may perform limited SDK diagnostics and analytics for authentication, reliability, and security.
05
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, database, hosting, and security services.
- Service providers that help us host, secure, maintain, or support the service under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and service integrity.
06
International processing
Podorbit serves users globally. Your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and other locations where Google or our service providers operate. We use provider terms and available legal safeguards for these transfers.
07
Retention and security
Account information, favorites, and your latest cross-device playback state are retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Local playlists remain on their original devices. We delete or anonymize cloud account information after a valid deletion request unless retention is required for security, legal, or dispute purposes.
We use HTTPS, access controls, secure authentication, and managed cloud infrastructure. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
08
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can remove favorites and local playlist entries in the product, permanently delete your account from the mobile app, or use our web account-deletion page. You can also contact support@podorbit.app. You may have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
09
Children and policy changes
Podorbit is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
We may update this policy as Podorbit changes. We will post the new effective date and provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
